This weekend was rainy, as has been our usual, but we headed out anyway. Saturday we went to the Summer Stroll in Leominster. First thing, Sawyer saw the pony rides and wanted to give it a try. I waited in line with him while Jeremy walked around with the other kids. About 20 minutes in, we were 2 people from the front of the line, the skies opened up. Not a sprinkle, it was pouring. After such a wait, we wanted our turn and they were trying to accomodate the rest of the line. Well, Sawyer looked up and a rain drop fell in his eye. He was done. tossed on the pony, sobbing, soaked, etc. We took our lap and were off, headed for cover. During all this, we got separated from Jeremy, Caleb and Audrey who had also headed for dryer spaces. So, after ducking under various awnings, we headed back to the car to see if we'd find them there. See, I had both cell phones in my purse and Jeremy had the keys in his pocket. So, they weren't at the car, but we did find a nice dry porch to wait it out. After it let up a bit, we ventured out to find them, also looking for us. Unfortunately the cotton candy didn't make it. Seems cotton candy + rain = drippy mess and wet cardboard tube.
On Sunday, the kids and I stumbled upon a bike/ stroller parade for kids downtown. There was free popcorn, petting zoo animals and ballons/ goodie bags for the kids. It was a great find. We even got to meet the Mayor Lisa Wong. Quite the find for a rainy afternoon. After a short visit there, we headed over to a new playground for play and some bike riding. Make do with what you're given. Rain!
